Itenerary
Day One: 9 Km
- 9.00 am Leave Falls Creek Village with a shuttle drop off at Pretty Valley Pondage.
- 9.30 am Start the gradual climb to Tawonga Huts that overlooks Pretty Valley Pondage and Mt McKay
- 11.00 am Arrive at Tawonga Hut camp morning tea and set camp
- 11.45 am Depart for Mt Jaithmanthang
- 12.45 pm Lunch at Jaithmanthang over looking Mt Feathertop before returning to Tawonga Huts
- 3.00pm Explore Tawonga Huts and river area.
- 4.00pm Set up the evening camp site for camp side fire and prepare for dinner
- 6.00pm Dinner by the fire side talk fire ban conditions permitting.
Day Two: 14 Km
- 7.00 am Breakfast of breads, oats, eggs and fruits.
- 8.00 am Leave camp for a good climb for Fainter Hiking light with out camping equipment.
- 10.00 am Overlook the Victorian alps and enjoy a high plains morning tea/hot chocolate/snack
- 10.30 am Descent back to Tawonga huts
- 12.30 pm Arrive Tawonga Huts for lunch and pack down camp.
- 1.30 pm Depart Tawonga Huts for Pretty Valley Pondage.
- 3.00 pm Arrive at Falls Creek Village and farewell at 1550.
What is Supplied:
- One Planet Back packs 45 LT (if required I have a total of 8 packs)
- Tents ( Mont minus 16, Moondance Tents)
- Sleeping bags (Mont Brinabella)
- Sleeping mats, silk inner sheets, air pillows and head lamp
- All meals on tour, coffee, tea and cooking equipment. (Two Lunches, One Diner and One Breakfast)
- Utensils and drinking cups
- GPS, Medical kit
- Transfers to trail heads
- Camp site is pre set
- Guide(s)
What you need to bring:
- Attire suitable for potential harsh conditions, wool and layers are the best, include wind and waterproof jacket and pants.
- Warm Hat, light gloves and sun hat
- Sunglasses
- Water bottle 1 Litre minimum
- Sunscreen
- Basic daily body cleaning needs
- Three pairs of socks.
- Thermals and under garments
- Trekking shoes or water proof shoe.
- Camp shoes like thongs or light shoes (option)
Little facts that will help:
- The day pack will weigh between about 9 to 14 kilos.
- Medium level of fitness is required
- We will be able to have a fire on the night providing no total fire bans. Otherwise cooking can be done inside the hut with gas cookers.
- Some pre training and hiking up two to three filghts of stairs twice a week will help.
